Comforts from the Kitchen

Today was a day filled with household chores and kitchen comforts. I made my favorite yellow squash casserole and thought I'd share it with you.

I also created a great recipe page from My Digital Studio and that way I can share it with friends or even with a Bride-to-Be as I shower her with a gift of a casserole dish. I love to include a couple of recipes that could be lovingly prepared in the dish.

MDS2 (My Digital Studio) is fabulous and continues to give me hours of creative enjoyment. Purchase your copy of My Digital Studio 2 thru online store. Contact me with any questions.

How Blessed We are as a Family...

Our Family is quite blessed! Our grandchildren are precious and full of energy and the 5 of them keep us young!

William and Brennan enjoyed the Zoo in San Antonio for the Memorial Day weekend, while Kayley Joy and Kaidence Grace came to GrandDad & Meemaw's House for Burgers and Bubbles! Our son Matt turned 26 on Monday and WOW we are proud of him!! What great parents he and Alexis already are to our new granddaughter, Lilyanne. Lilyanne Evangeline was resting well at home in College Station turning a whole week old.

We were able to gather some great photos of the kids and I used my brand new Fan Fair MDS DVD to create the Fabulous Pages. This new content DVD is available as the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog will become available June 1st. AND to make that even better, Stampin' Up offers My Digital Studio FREE on a 30-day basis so you can try it before you buy it.

Happy Memorial Day!

I am blessed to come from a family of Patriots...Thank you God for allowing me to grow and live in a country that enjoys such precious freedoms as the ability to worship YOU!

It came to my attention recently that as we celebrate Memorial Day, a few of my friends are also grieving the loss of a loved one lost in combat to preserve our freedoms. Each of these a mom/dad or wife/husband or sister/brother has and cherishes the folded flag given to them at the memorial service of a loved one.

Did you know how carefully thought-out and prepared each fold in a Folded Flag is? I thought today would be a great time to share just what each fold represents.

The 1st fold of our flag is a symbol of life.

The 2nd fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.

The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing our ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.

The 4th fold represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance.

The 5th fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decaur, "Our Country", in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.

The 6th fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that We pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The 7th fold is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.

The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day.

The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.

The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for defense of our country since they were first born.

The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.

The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding us of our nations motto, "In God We Trust."

God Bless America and the Men and Women who have served and are currently serving our country to protect and provide for our FREEDOM!

A Tin of Cuteness with a Ton of Summer Smooches

Look at this cute tin I put together for a new friend! I used the sneak peek opportunity of the NEW Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (#125409 - Available ONLY Now thru April 30th) to create these great glass magnets for her refrigerator or magnetic note board. Each glass circle was approximately 1 7/8" in diameter so I used the 1 3/4" Circle Punch to create the circles of DSP to be adhered and then punched the Magnet Sheet (#119816) with the same punch and adhered it to the DSP. I added the DSP to the glass using Snail Adhesive (#104332).

I created the band for the box using some of my favorite Stampin' Up! Punches: 2 1/2" Circle Punch (#120906), 1 3/4" Circle Punch (#119850) , 1 3/8" Circle Punch (#119860) and the Finial Press (#115963), Petals-A-Plenty (#116824) and Perfect Polka Dots (#117335) embossing folders to emboss each layer. The Stampin' Up Cardstock used were pulled from the Brights Assortment of Smooth Cardstock (#119706 - using coordinating colors of Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Daffodil Delight) I layered the circles on top of each other to create the flower using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430). The flower was topped it with a Daffodil Delight colored button from the Brights Designer Buttons (#119747) and added White Bakers Twine for the bow (#124262).

The leaves were punched using Lucky Limeade Cardstock (#122926) and the Blossom Petal Builders Punch (#121808) and were given a little more detail with the Crimper (#101608). Wrapping the cute tin with a band created from Daffodil Delight Cardstock and adding a layer of Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.

Check out the FABULOUS Summer Smooches Product Line!

Create something today with your talents and put a smile on a friend's face! and...Make it an INKredible Day!
